Northumberland County Woman Pleads No Contest For Leaving Toddler In Hot Car Last Summer

A Northumberland County woman accused of leaving her 21-month-old daughter in a hot car for nearly six hours last summer has pleaded no contest to an aggravated assault charge. By pleading no contest, 25-year-old Tonia Lee Sones of the Watsontown-area did not admit guilt but will be sentenced as if she had. A sentencing date has not been set. The toddler suffered extensive brain damage as a result of being left in the hot vehicle back on June 1st, 2018. The little girl can’t speak, feed herself or have solid foods. She has daily seizures and no control over her limbs, is unable to walk and has vision impairments.
