Five children are dead after a fire ravaged a day care early Sunday in the city of Erie. Fire officials say four of the dead were siblings. The fire broke out around 1:15 Sunday morning. at a home that was operating as a day care. Officials say another four people were injured, including two teens who jumped from a second floor window. The other two were the homeowner, who ran through the flames to escape, and a neighbor who tried to get inside and rescue people. The children who died ranged in age from eight months to eight years. Erie Fire Chief Guy Santone said only one smoke detector was found, in the attic. Early indications are the fire started on the first floor. The day care was open 24 hours a day to provide care for children whose parents work the overnight shift.
