PA To Drop Federal Health Insurance Exchange

The state of Pennsylvania is going to operate its own online health insurance exchange instead of using the federal exchange. Governor Tom Wolf signed legislation creating Pennsylvania's version of Healthcare.gov. Wolf says Pennsylvania currently pays 100 million dollars in fees for access to the federal exchange, but this plan drops the cost to as low as 30 million dollars, a savings that will be passed onto the consumer. The exchange is expected to launch by the start of 2021.
