State House Passes Bill To Dump Federal Insurance Exchange

The state House has passed a bill to establish a state-based health insurance exchange here in Pennsylvania. House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler and House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody say having a state-based health insurance exchange and a reinsurance program would significantly lower costs for the state and premiums for PA residents in the individual insurance market by 5 to 10 percent. The bill, overwhelmingly approved by the House, now goes to the state Senate.
