Electric Vehicle Fee Passes State House Committee

A bill which seeks to ensure electric vehicle owners pay their fair share for the maintenance of Pennsylvania roads and bridges has been approved by the state House Transportation Committee. The bill would eliminate the alternative fuel tax and replace it with an electric vehicle fee of $150 for non-commercial electric vehicles and $250 for commercial electric vehicles. The legislation seeks to level the playing field when it comes to ensuring what electric vehicle owners pay to use the state's roads is comparable with what the owners of gas-powered vehicles pay. The bill now goes to the full house.
