State House Committee Advances Bill To Regulate Milk Banking In PA

Legislation approved by the state House Health Committee would benefit newborns in need of mothers' breast milk. The bill establishes licensing and safety standards for facilities which serve as milk banks. They're called into service in cases where a new mother is unable to provide her own milk, either due to a health condition or following a premature birth. The bill, which now head to the full state House, would not apply to hospitals and medical centers which operate their own milk banks.
