Lawsuit Against PennDOT & Turnpike Thrown Out Of Court

PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike have come out on the winning end of a lawsuit which could have cost billions of dollars had they lost. A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the Turnpike, seeking to halt its annual 450 million dollar payment to PennDOT. The funds are used for mass transit, but the suit, filed by a truckers group challenged the constitutionality of funds being diverted for non-turnpike uses. If the judge had ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, PennDOT could have been required to repay as much as 6 billion dollars.
