Police from throughout the region were called out to track down a wanted Berwick man after he fled police, crashed his car, and took off on foot Saturday in Columbia County. Hemlock Township Officers tried to stop 28-year-old Robert Thomas Saturday morning around 10 o’clock when they saw him in vicinity of the Columbia Mall because they knew he was wanted on outstanding warrants. He sped off and ended up crashing his car into two road signs and a guardrail near the intersection of Millville Road and Covered Bridge Road. He took off on foot after the crash. Cops were able to track him down about 3 hours later thanks to tips from folks living in the area. Police say a passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old Tia Nicole Slusser, was charged with drug possession and resisting arrest after she allegedly tried to kick an officer. Bloomsburg, Montour Township, Locust Township, Scott Township and South Centre Township police departments, State Police, and Columbia and Union County sheriff’s departments all assisted in the search.
