Redistricting Bill Approved By State Senate Committee

A bill which would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to change the process for drawing Congressional and General Assembly election maps has been approved by the Senate State Government Committee. The bill calls for amending the PA Constitution to establish an 11 member independent commission to draw Congressional and legislative election maps. The commission would be comprised of four Democrats, four Republicans and three independents. 7 affirmative votes, including at least two Democrats, two Republicans and two independents would be required to approve an election map.
