State House Committee Holds Hearing On Adolescent Drug Treatment

The state House Human Services Committee recently heard about the need for improving drug treatment for adolescents. Lawmakers heard about how the availability of adolescent drug treatment is not only poor in Pennsylvania but across the country as well. One testifier, who's now in long-term recovery from a substance abuse problem, said her life could have been a lot different if there was greater access to adolescent care. Lawmakers also heard that illicit drug-related death rates continue to rise because people are not getting the specialized treatment they need.
