Bloomsburg’s Zoning Hearing Board holds a special meeting tonight at 7 o’clock in Town Hall and is expected to render it’s decision on Developer Matt Zopetti’s application to build a drug and alcohol rehab facility at the former Bloom Mills property on Sixth Street in town. Zopetti had applied for a nursing home permit, and was initially denied. Zoppetti contends that his project meets the town’s legal definition of a nursing home. Steve Coladonato lives near the proposed facility and is part of the group-- Citizens for a Safe Bloomsburg--which opposes the plan. He says Zoppetti’s proposal is more of a half-way house for convicted felons recently released from prison. Coladonato says the project doesn’t make sense for his neighborhood. The Zoning Hearing Board took nearly 3 hours of testimony on the matter back at the beginning of February, but did not make decision then.
