A Wilburton man is in the Columbia County lock-up after Locust Township Police say he assaulted an officer. Police say the officer was trying to take 52-year-old David Kobilis into custody on several outstanding warrants when he assaulted the officer and resisted arrest for about 15 minutes Tuesday. Three back-up police officers were called into help subdue Kobilis who is facing aggravated and simple assault as well as resisting arrest charges due to the incident Tuesday. In addition to the three warrants held by the Locust Township Police Department, Kobilis was also wanted on criminal charges out of Northumberland County. Kobilis is in the Columbia County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bail.
