Lawmaker And Gov. Move From Budget Hearings To Negotiations

Following last week's conclusion of House and Senate budget hearings, it's time for lawmakers and the Governor to get down to work on reaching an agreement on a budget for the next fiscal year. Chairman Stan Saylor thinks the House Appropriations Committee budget hearings were the best held in years, with members from both sides of the aisle asking tough questions. But Saylor says he's not sure members got answers to all their questions, saying lawmakers heard a lot of "I don't knows" from a lot of Secretaries. Saylor called the governor's budget proposal a good starting point, but says lawmakers need more details about it.
