Efforts to assist Pennsylvania's struggling dairy industry were discussed last week during budget hearings before the House Appropriations Committee. Gov. Tom Wolf last Fall signed a bill making 5 million dollars available for dairy famers.They can apply for funding for projects such as research, marketing their products, or looking for ways to add value to existing items. Agriculture Sec. Russell Redding says they received applications for 28 projects, with the winners to be announced sometime this month.
