A top Republican in the state Senate says he is open to discussing an increase in Pennsylvania's minimum wage but did express some reservations. State Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman told the Pennsylvania Press Club that he's open to discussing a minimum wage increase, but has a problem with a proposal to raise it to 15 dollars, saying it would harm efforts at job creation. The plan endorsed by Gov. Tom Wolf would raise the minimum to 12 dollars an hour effective July first. It would then increase 50 cents a year until it reaches 15 dollars by 2025.
