Agreement Reached To Halt Federal Lawsuit Against State Corrections Department

An agreement has been reached in a federal lawsuit challenging a policy put into place by Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections. The suit, brought by several inmates rights groups, claimed the Corrections Department violated inmates' Constitutional Rights by intercepting legal correspondence and giving only copies to inmates. It was an effort to cut down on drug smuggling. Under the agreement, expected to be in place by April 6th, inmates will receive their legal mail and no copies will be made.
