Wolf Administration Marks Medicaid Anniversary

State officials are marking the fourth anniversary of Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania. Department of Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller says Governor Wolf's decision to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act has helped some 1.4 million PA residents to access preventive care and life-saving treatment since 2015. For example, Miller says more than 30,000 adults covered through Medicaid expansion had polyps removed as a result of colon screenings in 2017, potentially preventing cancer. Miller also says with more Pennsylvanians having health insurance coverage the amount hospitals must spend on charity care has dropped by 30 percent.
