Gov. Wolf Proposes Tax On Natural Gas Drilling For 5th Year In A Row

Gov. Wolf is once again asking Pennsylvania lawmakers to approve a severance tax on Marcellus Shale natural gas production to finance $4.5 billion dollars in infrastructure improvements. The projects are aimed at improving internet access, fighting blight, and controlling floodwaters. Approval will be up to the Republican-controlled Legislature, which has rejected Wolf’s overtures for a natural gas tax every year of his first term office.
