PA's 9-1-1 Law Up For Reauthorization

Legislation to reauthorize Pennsylvania's 9-1-1 Law is headed to the floor of the state Senate after winning unanimous committee approval. The bill renews the law known as Act 12 of 2015, which is set to expire at the end of June. It continues funding of county 9-1-1 centers through a monthly fee of 1 dollar and 65 cents on all phones and similar devices. An official with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency acknowledges a 40 million dollar deficit, but says it's being handled through consolidation and other cost cutting measures.
