Gov. Tom Wolf is taking another shot at trying to boost the minimum wage in Pennsylvania. The Governor’s proposal would raise the minimum wage from its current $7.25 an hour to $12 an hour effective July first. It would then increase by 50 cents a year until it reaches $15 an hour by 2025. A minimum wage hike is opposed by leaders of the House and Senate Republican majorities and business groups, including the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the National Federation of Independent Business. The Governor made similar proposals in his first term, but they fell flat in the Republican-controlled legislature.
