Drunk Driving Case Against Township Supervisor Moves Forward

A Township Supervisor in Montour County has given up his right to preliminary hearing in front of a Magisterial District Judge on charges stemming from a drunk driving crash last month. His case will now proceed to Montour County Court. Police say Mahoning Township Supervisor John Whelan’s blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit when he crashed his pick-up truck into two vehicles parked along Bloom Road in the township on December 30th. Whelan was sworn into office to a two-year term as a supervisor in early January 2018.
