PA Energy Is A Target For Outside Influence

Foreign influences on Pennsylvania's energy industry were the focus of a hearing before the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Tuesday. Noting that Pennsylvania is the top U.S. producer of natural gas, Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Chairman Gene Yaw said Pennsylvania is a player in the field, and as a result, is also a target. Natural gas blogger Thomas Shepstone told the panel there are a handful of tax exempt foundations which fund the bulk of opposition to natural gas development in PA. Shepstone recommended having the auditor general investigate the alliances between these organizations and foreign special interests.
