PA Senator Pushes For Stronger DUI Law

At least one state lawmaker is continuing to push for stronger drunk driving laws in Pennsylvania. Senator John Rafferty is pushing for passage of Senate Bill 961 which he says would create a felony DUI, increasing penalties for repeat drunk driving offenders. Pennsylvania is just one of four states which does not treat repeat DUI's as felonies. Rafferty hopes tougher penalties would help to deter people from driving under the influence in the first place. The bill which passed the Senate in April is still awaiting House action.
