State Supports Apprentice Programs

A program operated by the state Dept. of Labor and Industry helps today's employers train the workers of tomorrow. The Apprenticeship and Training Office is operated by the Department of Labor and Industry. It currently operates 166 programs which benefit over 16 thousand registered apprentices in Pennsylvania. Program Director Eric Ramsey says he sees the results first-hand. L and I officials say they're in touch with business who they need these types of programs to deal with the skills gap in the current workforce, and as they begin to retire, have their successors ready to step up.
