PA Legislature Moves To Protect Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage

A bill to be introduced in the state House is in response to a Trump Administration plan to do away with a key provision of the Affordable Care Act. The bill would prohibit insurers from canceling or denying health coverage because of a pre-existing condition. Representative Jeanne McNeill, a co-sponsor of the bill, says this protection is needed. Representative Peter Schweyer, the bill's prime sponsor, says if the federal government fails to defend this part of the ACA, hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians would be faced with skyrocketing health insurance premiums or no coverage at all.
