This Year's Wet Weather Causes Problems For Christmas Tree Farmers

Christmas tree farming is big business in our area and across the state. More than 1,400 Christmas tree farms in Pennsylvania produce about a million cut trees each year. Paul Shealer, a Christmas tree grower in Schuylkill County says all this year's rain was good for some Christmas trees and bad for others. He says many trees prone to root rot from excessive water which were planted on sites with poor drainage were lost, while others on good drainage sites did well.
