PA Game Commission Offers Advice To Avoid Bear Attacks

Following the recent bear attack which seriously injured a Lycoming County woman, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is offering advice in the event of a bear encounter. The Game Commission says one or two people may suffer minor injuries every year in PA by being knocked to the ground by a fleeing bear. But the commission says bear attacks which result in serious injury to people rarely occur. People can keep bears away from their homes by removing food sources such as trash cans and bird feeders. If you should encounter a bear the commission says try to slowly move away and don't panic.
