State Health Officials Giveaway More Life-Saving Overdose Reversal Drug Than Expected

Pennsylvania Health Secretary, Dr. Rachel Levine, says last Thursday's free distribution of the opioid overdose reversal drug Naloxone was hugely successful, with approximately 6,100 kits being handed out across the state. She said they had only expected to distribute about 5,000 kits. Additional Naloxone kits will be distributed to others who provided their names and contact information when supplies ran out. Dr. Levine reminds state residents that Naloxone, which is covered by Medicaid, Medicare and commercial insurance, is available at PA pharmacies through the standing order she issued earlier this year.
