When Their Children Get Hooked On Opoids, More Grandparents Are Stepping Up To Raise Their Grandchildren

For a growing number of Pennsylvanians, opioid addiction means they are no longer able to care for their children, leaving the task to godparents, grandparents, and in some cases great-grandparents. An estimated 89 thousand grandfamilies are raising close 100 thousand children in Pennsylvania, numbers that State Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne says are increasing every day.
