Danville Passes Tax Hike, Bloomsburg Rejects Hike

Danville Borough Council adopted a 2019 budget Tuesday night that includes a tax increase of about 5 percent—that’s approximately a $39 increase for the average taxpayer in the borough. Wes Walters was the only council member to vote no on the budget and tax hike. Walters says the borough has increased taxes every year for the seven years he has been on council.

Meanwhile, Bloomsburg Town Council has more work to do on its 2019 spending plan. Town council shot down a budget proposal that contained a 9-percent tax hike in a 4-3 vote Monday night.
