Pennsylvania is the top-ranked state in the number of reported cases of Lyme Disease since 2011. In response, East Stroudsburg University is getting $500-thousand dollars in state funding to develop the Pennsylvania Tick Research Laboratory. Nicole Chinnici, the Director at ESU’s Wildlife DNA Testing Laboratory says the Pennsylvania Tick Research Laboratory will provide free tick testing for all PA residents. Funding will also support creation of a data analytic website. Chinnici says data based on the research done at the lab will be shared with the public as well as with the departments of health and physicians.
