A landmark tree in Riverside is being cut down. The Ash tree outside the Danville Assembly of God Church on Sixth Street died due to an infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer, an insect from Asia. Pastor William Conrad tells our news partner Newswatch 16 that he believes the tree dates back more than 300 years. The tree measures nearly 21 feet around. Pastor Conrad is looking forward to counting the rings on the tree trunk to see how old it actually is. The cost to remove the tree is nearly $2,000.
