Hunters Gain Easier Access To State Lands

Deer hunters will have greater access to state forestland this season. By opening some state forest roads that are normally closed, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources says deer hunters will find more than 90 percent of state forestland is within a half mile of an open road. That represents about a 20 percent increase. However, some of the roads, many of which are dirt and gravel, could be closed at the discretion of district foresters to limit damage of them.
