Hep-A Cases In PA On The Increase

Pennsylvania is seeing a higher than usual number of Hepatitis A cases this year. While Pennsylvania has seen between 40 and 60 cases of Hepatitis A a year over the past several years, so far this year 81 cases of the contagious liver infection have been reported in PA. Secretary of Health Dr. Levine says this year's cases seem to be among the homeless, men who have sex with men and I-V drug users. While there's no treatment or cure for Hepatitis A, Dr. Levine says there is an effective vaccine.
