Bill Seeks To Prevent College Suicides

Gov. Tom Wolf is expected to sign a bill into law that is aimed at preventing suicide among college students. The bill which has won House and Senate approval, requires 4-year institutions to create and publicize mental health and suicide awareness plans to be distributed at the beginning of each semester. The bill's sponsor in the House says that over the last 20 years suicide rates among college students have increased 25 percent nationally and 33 percent here in Pennsylvania.
