PA Senate Adjourns Without Taking Up Abuse Law

The state Senate adjourned this legislative session without taking up legislation regarding survivors of child sex abuse. Senate Democrats are blaming Republicans for inaction on a bill to give adult victims of abuse more time to take legal action in cases where the statute of limitations had long expired. That extension was one of four recommendations contained in a grand jury report released this year outlining abuse and cover-up in 6 Roman Catholic Dioceses in Pennsylvania. Democrats say they'll revisit the issue in the next legislative session.
