2019 Insurance Rates Put In Place

The state Insurance Commissioner has announced the final approved health insurance rates under the Affordable Care Act for next year. Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman says the Insurance Department has approved an average statewide rate decrease of 2-point-3 for health insurers in the individual market. Altman says the health insurers which currently sell in the individual market will stay in the market, while a new insurer, Pennsylvania Health and Wellness, has entered the market in 3 counties in the Philadelphia area. And Altman says four of the five insurers already in the individual market have expanded their coverage areas on the exchange meaning increased choice for consumers in 30 of the state's 67 counties.
