Federal Grant Provides For PA Addict Families

Pennsylvania has been awarded a federal grant to assist those indirectly affected by the opioid crisis - children of addicts and those who must step in to care for them. When a parent is unable to care for their children because of addiction, it's usually the grandparents who are forced to step in. A 480 thousand dollar grant awarded to Pennsylvania seeks to ease that process through what's known as Kinship Care. The funds will help the state establish programs and assistance to help ease that transition, while also allowing kids to maintain a bond with the biological parent receiving treatment.
