Southern Two Minute Drill Archives for 2012-10

Central Columbia at Southern Columbia 10/26

Trailing 7-0 at halftime, Southern Columbia got short touchdown runs from Matt Lupold and Adam Feudale in the second half to beat Central Columbia 15-7. The play of the game came in the thrid quarter with the Tigers facing fourth and 11 at the Central Columbia 35 yard line. Taylor Young's 34 yard completion to Luke Rarig set up Lupold's touchdown run. Young then ran for the two point conversion giving the Tigers their first lead. Despite being held to season lows in points, first downs, and total offense, Southern Columbia remained unbeaten and can clinch the Heartland Conference Division three title with a win over Warrior Run in the regular season finale.

Shamokin at Southern Columbia October 19

A thunderstorm delayed the start of the second half by 30 minutes, but Southern Columbia had a 32-0 lead by then, and the Tigers went on to beat Shamokin 45-6. Taylor Young's 26 yard touchdown pass to Bryce Parry in the first quarter opened the scoring for Southern Columbia. The Tigers later got a 38 yard field goal from Dylan Swank and touchdown runs from Adam Feudale, Matt Lupold, Blake Marks, and Jacob Potter. Linebacker Garet Sosnoski returned an interception 18 yards for a score as Southern Columbia remained unbeaten. Shamokin fell to 2-6.

Southern Columbia at Bloomsburg October 12

Four Southern Columbia ball carriers scored touchdowns, and the Tigers got two safeties on bad punt snaps to hold off Bloomsburg 32-20. The Tigers trailed 7-2 midway through the second quarter, but a three yard touchdown run by Matt Lupold with 2:19 to go in the quarter gave them a lead that they never relinquished. Blake Marks, Taylor Young and Adam Feudale scored the other Southern Columbia touchdowns. Feudale had 134 yards rushing for the Tigers who clinched the Heartland Conference Division 3 title and improved to 7-0. Bloomsburg quarterback Ricky Klingerman completed 22 passes for 255 yards for the Panthers who fell to 5-2.

Southern Columbia at Selinsgrove October 5

Junior fullback Adam Feudale rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns, and senior quarterback Taylor Young threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers as Southern Columbia remained unbeaten with a 50-21 win over Selinsgrove. Young's touchdown throws were 10 yards to Nate Hunter, 30 yards to Bryce Parry, and 21 yards to Luke Rarig. Southern Columbia's defense shut out the Seals in the second half. At 6-0, Southern Columbia is the Heartland Conference's only unbeaten team. Selisngrove fell to 4-2.

Muncy at Southern Columbia September 28

This matchup of unbeaten football teams proved to be a mismatch as Southern Columbia scored 35 points in the first quarter on the way to a 47-7 win over Muncy. The Tigers rushed for 425 yards. Junior Nate Hunter led the way with 133 rushing yards on just three carries including touchdown runs of 78 and 48 yards. Senior quarterback Taylor Young scored the game's first touchdown on a 24 yard run and a short time later, he threw a 49 yard touchdown pass to tight end Jake Becker. The Southern Columbia route spoiled the return of former Tiger start running back Jay Drumheller, now the head coach at Muncy. Southern Columbia is now 5-0 while Muncy is 4-1.
