The Loose Ties Model Railroad Society will open their huge display of operating trains at the Columbia Mall this weekend. They have over 60 trains and 10,000 feet of track. The display is open today from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and tomorrow from Noon to 4:00 PM.
While you’re at the mall you can sign your pet up for their Pet With The Most Magnetic Personality contest. Bring a photo of your pet in along with $3.00 to mall services to enter. Proceeds from the contest will go to the Children’s Museum.
There will be a winter walk tomorrow at the PPL Riverlands in Berwick from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Join James Montgomery to learn to identify trees without leaves, overwintering birds, and read tracks and signs for clues about animals’ habits.
St. John’s Community Church is hosting a soup sale. Pickup date is next Friday, but you’ll need to place your order by Wednesday. Order by calling the church at 356-7723. They’re selling ham & bean, vegetable, chicken corn, potato, and handmade pot pie by the quart for $5.00. Free delivery will be available to Catawissa borough and township residents.
Storytime begins at the Bloomsburg Public Library on Wednesday. The half-hour of stories begins at 10:00 AM each Wednesday, and ends with a coloring project. Your good listeners ages three to five are invited…you can sign your kids up in advance at the library.
Saint Mary’s Church in Berwick is hosting a Year of Faith program with monthly lessons about the Catholic faith. Next Thursday they present session one part two “The Revelation of God Become Man” at 6:30 PM. The women’s council will host a social following the video for those who attend. The church is on Fowler Ave in Berwick.
The Susquehanna River Arts Group will open up their show at Artspace Gallery in Bloomsburg next Thursday. The group is made up of local artists from Columbia and Montour Counties. The art show runs through February 24th.
From the WHLM Future file, next weekend is the annual Trash to Treasure Yard Sale at Bloomsburg University to benefit the Columbia County United Way. To get tickets for the early bird sale contact the United Way office at 784-3134. The general sale starts at 9:00 AM, and you don’t need tickets for that.
Also coming up next weekend is the flap-jack fundraiser for the Bloomsburg Public Library at Applebees in Bloomsburg Saturday morning. And the Special Olympics of Columbia and Montour County athletes will be taking a polar plunge in the Leigh River next Saturday. Bloomsburg University Basketball
There is college basketball Friday night at Bloomsburg University's Nelson Field House for the first time since December 2nd. The Huskies' Men's and Women's teams swept Lock Haven. The Women won their game 80-53. The Men took their game into Double Overtime, ending in a losing-streak-breaking 106-98 victory.
On Saturday night, BU hosted Clarion. The Huskies beat the Golden Eagles in both games. The Women's team won 79-53. The Men's game came down to the wire in a 66-64 Husky victory. You can hear all the details from the night's games with Jim Doyle in the WHLM Husky Post Game Report:
