Preparing for Sandy

Columbia County Emergency Management officials are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Sandy as it slowly makes it's way inland and across Pennsylvania the next few days. Already a High Wind Warning and a Flood Watch is in effect. We'll be able to feel the affects of Sandy starting Monday.... lasting into Tuesday... and possibly Wednesday. Columbia County Commissioner Chris Young says the storm is nothing we can't deal with. However, Young says there will be some flash flooding along creeks... but the Susquehanna River should remain within it's banks. During a conference call Sunday with the National Weather Service in State College... meteorologists says we could expect a minimum of three inches of rain... more depending on how the slow moving storm exits the state. Winds of 25 to 35 miles an hour... with gusts to 60 will also be with us during the duration of Sandy's visit. That could lead to widespread power outages across the area. Stay with WHLM for the latest dealing with Hurricane Sandy as it targets Columbia and Montour Counties.
