Bloomsburg Town Council found out Monday night that revenue coming into the treasury is down substantially from where it was projected to be at. That word from Mayor Dan Knorr. Mayor Knorr says it's a problem with a switch in tax collection agencies from Centax to Berkheimer Associates... and it's created a half – million dollar shortfall... at least on paper. Mayor Knorr says he believes the money should be at the town hall by the end of the year. Meantime... another area of deficit is reimbursement for flood costs which happened in 2011 and spilled into 2012.
The importance of saving an estimated 850 jobs through flood protection for Bloomsburg west end is the topic of a meeting Tuesday in Harrisburg. It involves State Representative David Millard... staffers from the governor's office... and the past and current president of the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce. President Fred Gaffney says it comes down to helping Autoneum and Windsor Foods weather future flood waters. Both businesses were severely effected by the floodwaters of last September. Also on the agenda... how to protect people living on the west side... now that the U-S Army Corps of Engineers has decided not to take part in funding a floowall along the Susquehanna and Fishing Creek.
The investigation continues into the death of a man... crushed beneath his truck near Beach Haven Monday night. The still unidentified man from the Wapwallopen area was discovered by friends he was to meet early last evening in a field along the Susquehanna River near the Beach Haven Carnival grounds. The Press – Enterprise is reporting in Tuesday's edition the victim was apparently going to do some work on his pick – up truck when it either fell or rolled back over him.

O'Neal will play taps in remembers to firefighters... police officers... EMS workers and civilians who lost their lives on this date back in 2001.
NEPA Gas Prices
The price of a gallon of gas is inching upward. The Triple – A Fuel Gauge report out Tuesday morning shows that self – serve, unleaded regular is averaging $3.88 – a - gallon across northeastern Pennsylvania. That's up 2 cents a gallon from Monday. Overall... gas is up ten cents from a week ago... and up twenty – five cents a gallon from a month ago. The big problem... Hurricane Isaac and issues in the distribution system.
Security officers at PPL's Susquehanna Steam Electric Station north of Berwick... in Salem Township... will be taking part in planned security – related drills this week. Those drills are conducted by the the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission as part of it's independent oversight of nuclear power plants. A spokesperson for the company says residents living in the area may hear some firing noises related to the drill... but it's nothing to worry about.
Jared / Subway
The guy we see in the TV ads for the Subway restaurants spent some time in Bloomsburg on Monday Jared Fogle was in town as part of a promotion... and stopped by the Bloomsburg Elementary School to talk to kids about health and wellness... and childhood obesity. At one time tipping the scale at 400 pounds... the 34 – year old Fogle also brings along a pair of pants he used to wear that have a 60 – inch waste line.
If you use the Wilkes – Barre / Scranton airport... you probably have found it not as crowded as in the past. Airport officials say traffic was off 10% in June... and 11% in July as compared to the same months in 2011. For the first seven months of the year... employment was off nearly 4 % compared to a year ago. The reason... fewer people flying... and a 9% unemployment rate in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Neighbors in one Freeland neighborhood... near Hazleton... are complaining about a stench. Those people who live in the area say it's coming from a meat processing plant on Route 940... and directly across the street is the company's sewage plant. The company telling our media partner NewsWatch 16... that they're working on the problem spending a lot of money to resolve the situation.

State Representative Karen Boback who represents part of Columbia... Luzerne and Wyoming County's will have satellite office hours for constituents on Tuesday. Either she or a member of her staff will be at the Dorrance Township Municipal building on in the 78 hundred block of Blue Ridge Road starting at 10 O'clock. Then at 1 O'clock... either Ms. Boback or a staffer will have satellite office hours at the Wright Township Municipal Building on South Mountain Boulevard in mountain Top.

There were two NFL games last night. The Baltimore Ravens downed the Cincinnati Bengals 44 to 13.... and the San Diego Chargers got by the Oakland Raiders 22 to 14.
