What's Happening Saturday September 8, 2012


Today in Danville it's the Fall Arts and Crafts Festival on Mill Street. There will be free shuttle bus and parking.

 

The Columbia Mall is hosting a community day today, local non-profit organizations will be set up to provide information on the services they provide.

 

The Children's Museum invites your kids to Science Saturday, drop in for demonstrations and interactive experiments. The museum is located in Bloomsburg.

 

The Free Saturday trains program at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church will be open as usual today. The church is located at the corner of East Pine and Market Streets in Danville.

 

The Loose Ties Model Railroad Club will have their display of trains open at the Columbia Mall this weekend. It's open today until 2:00 pm, and will re-open tomorrow at noon.

 

The Liberty Nitro Nationals presented by Vreeland's Harley Davidson are happening at the Numidia Dragway this weekend.

 

Camp Victory, located in Millville, is hosting an open house today from noon to 3:00 PM. There are lots of events for your family including face painting, swimming, paddle boating, and more.

 

Catawissa First United Methodist Church invites you to block party today from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The day includes free food, free games and prizes, and live entertainment.

 

Elysburg Alliance Church will offer a contemporary worship service tonight at 6:30 PM. The church is located on Alpha Ave in Elysburg.

 

The Bloomsburg University Players present “Jack and Jill...A Romance” tonight at 7:30 PM and tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM. Ticket price is $6.00, $4.00 for students or seniors...it's happening at the BU Theatre Lab.

 

The Espy Fire Hall will host gift card bingo tomorrow. Doors open at noon, and games begin at 1:00 PM. It's twenty games for twenty dollars. There will be a chinese auction, bake sale, 50/50, and food. For non-bingo players doors open at 4:00 PM. It's all to benefit Joseph “Buzz” Difebo, who is battling cancer.

 

The Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center in Benton is holding their first annual talent show tomorrow at 4:00 PM. Price is $5.00 per family, or $2.00 per person.

 

The Bloomsburg Ministerium will have an outdoor service tomorrow at Town Park at 6:00 PM to remember the events of the 2011 September Flood.

HS Football

Three area high school football teams played their home openers Friday night. The Bulldogs of Berwick beat Pottsville 41-0 in the first meeting of the schools since 2004. Bloomsburg was at home to defeat Hughesville 41-14 in our game of the week. Southern Columbia beat Montgomery 55-3, Danville beat Loyalsock 20-6, and Central Columbia was at home to beat Montoursville 27-17.

 

Saturday afternoon, Columbia Montour Vo Tech is at home against Nanticoke.

 

Bloomsburg U Football

In college football Saturday, Bloomsburg University played their Home opener against Edinboro in the midst of rainy and gusty weather. The Huskies took the lead early and finished with a 30-14 win. You can listen to the details with Jim Doyle in the WHLM Husky Post Game Report:
