Danville is the only area high school football team still alive in the state playoffs. Last Friday the Ironmen won the District 4 Class Double "A" championship with a 28-21 win over Mount Carmel. The game was tied 14-14 at half time. The Ironmen were able to score on a 20-yard pass from Quarterback Weston Baylor to Bret Berg in the third quarter...and again in the fourth quarter on an 87-yard pass from Baylor to Zach Kozick to take the win. This Saturday at noon at Hershey Park Stadium Danville will play unbeaten Wyomissing in a state quarterfinal. You can hear that game on the WHLM stations beginning with the pregame show at 11:30.

Danville vs. Athens Friday November 16, 2012

The Danville Ironmen struggled for their win Friday night against Athens. Their first score of the game came with 3:50 left in the first quarter. Cale Rice had a 39-yard run for a touch down. Te Ironmen weren't able to get any other points on the board the first half of the game, and went into half time tied with the Wildcats 7-7. Athens came out and scored on a run half way through the third quarter, but a failed kick left them without the extra point. Finally with five minutes left in the final quarter of the game Danville's Sam Dressler made a 15-yard run for a touchdown...and the extra point kicked by Shayne Riley gave the team the lead. With that the Ironmen won the game 14-13. The Ironmen will face Mount Carmel at home this Friday night in the District Championship game, which you can hear on the WHLM Stations.

Danville vs. Loyalsock Friday 11/9/12

The Danville Ironmen will move on as the number one seed in the District 4 Class AA semifinals this week after beating Loyalsock 31-6 Friday night. Loyalsock was able to score in the first quarter to get six points on the board, but the Danville defense made sure that was all the scoring action the Lancers would get. Danville's offense racked up the points with two touchdowns in the first quarter. One a 38-yard run by Zack Kosick, and the other a punt return for 62-yards by Bret Berg. In the third quarter the Ironmen added to their score with a touchdown by Sam Dressler and a 28-yard field goal kick by Shayne Riley. In the fourth quarterback Weston Baylor threw a 9-yard pass to Bret Berg for the final touchdown of the game. The Ironmen face Athens this Friday night at home in a District Playoff you can hear on the WHLM Stations.

Danville vs. Selinsgrove 11/2/12

The Danville Ironmen were up by 14-7 to Selinsgrove at half-time Friday night. Sam Dressler scored on a 20-yard run in the first quarter and a 4-yard run in the second. The Ironmen added to that score in the third quarter with a pass from Quarterback Weston Baylor to Zack Kozick for 5 yards and a touchdown. Kicker Shayne Riley added to their lead with an 18 yard field goal with 4:07 left to play in the third quarter. The Selinsgrove defense kept the Ironmen from scoring the final quarter of the game, and their offense managed to score on a pass with 9:38 left in the game. In the end Danville came out on top 24-14.
