Danville Two Minute Drill Archives for 2012-09

Danville scored their fourth consecutive win this weekend over a Mifflinburg squad that beat them last season. Weston Baylor threw for two touchdown passes as Danville won handily, 23-13. The Ironmen again looked impressive as they continue their undefeated run. Danville's defense led by Linebacker Eric Haney, was a big part of the victory, contributing points and field position via an early safety. Danville goes on to face undefeated Central Columbia.

Danville @ Shamokin Friday September 14, 2012

Danville Quarterback Weston Baylor threw for 110 yards to take his team to a 20-10 victory against Shamokin Friday night. The quarterback threw for a touchdown to Cale Rice right before half time to make it at 10-7 game. A third quarter rushing touchdown plus two field goals during the game lead the team to their third victory this season. Danville looks ahead to their game at home with Mifflinburg this Friday night.

Danville survived what looked to be a close matchup with Loyalsock this week, beating the team 20-6. Cale Rice stepped up big on defense with four interceptions on the night, including three in the first quarter alone. Danville was unable to produce points off those turnovers early on, but used good special teams, including a 41 yard field goal by sophomore Shayne Riley to put pressure on a lackluster Loyalsock squad. Fullback Sam Dressler grinded down the defense for 121 yards on 21 carries, including a 13 yard touchdown run. Danville is now looking ahead to their next opponent, Shamokin, for their second consecutive away game.

Danville vs Milton, Friday August 31st

For anybody wondering about life in the Danville football program after Andrew Andreychik, new quarterback Weston Baylor put together a resounding Week 1 answer.

The junior signal caller threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns and completed 10 of his 13 passes in Danville’s 35-8 victory over Milton Friday night. Baylor, who also ran for a score, received support from a running game which accounted for 232 yards and three touchdowns.

The win was the fifth consecutive triumph for the Ironmen over the Black Panthers. In each of those five wins, Danville has scored at least 35 points.

Including Milton, each of Danville’s first three opponents finished 2011 with a losing record, although Milton played for the District IV AAA championship and Shamokin won that title and won a game in the state playoffs as well.
