8:00AM 1:00PM Book Sale The McBride Memorial Library Board of Trustees is sponsoring a book sale at the library on Saturday June 1st from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. They’ll have books of all types along with other media available for sale. Light refreshments and many varieties of plants will be sold as well. The library is located on Market Street in Berwick.
9:00AM 4:00PM Yard and Bake Sale Katys Church is hosting a yard and bake sale Friday May 31st and Saturday June 1st from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A portion of the proceeds benefit the continued restoration and renovation of the historical church. Kathy’s Church is located on Phillips Road in Bloomsburg…which is west off Route 254 outside Millville.
9:00AM 4:00PM Kite Day The Children’s Museum will host Kite Day on June 1st from 10 AM to 4 PM. There will be a kite making workshop at 11. Learn about wind power and make windmill crafts all day. Admission is $6 and free for children ages 2 and under. The Children’s Museum is located on West 7th Street in Bloomsburg.
5:00PM 10:00PM Jessica's Gift Benefit The Berwick VFW will host a benefit on June 1st from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. The “Jessica’s Gift Benefit” is being held to raise money for two local boys who lost their mom. There will be dinner and band…along with 50/50 and a Chinese Auction. Tickets are $20.00. Tickets can be purchased at the door or ahead by calling Carrie at 925-1064. The Berwick VFW is on Front Street.
All Day Southern Relay For Life The American Cancer Society will host the annual Southern Columbia Area Relay For Life Friday May 31st through Saturday June 1st at Southern Columbia High School. Events start at 3:00 PM on Friday and continue straight through Saturday at 3:00 PM. Stop by to support this year’s teams and join the fight against cancer.
All Day Volunteers Needed The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for their “Road to Recovery” program. You can volunteer your spare time to provide free transportation taking cancer patients to and from their treatments. Volunteer Drivers are needed in Columbia and Montour Counties. All Day SMILE Meeting SMILE is happy to announce that they will now host meetings in Bloomsburg and Berwick. SMILE is a group for single mothers to get together for support and friendship. Meetings in Bloomsburg will be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at Bloomsburg Christian Church. In Berwick at the New Covenant Christian Center on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. All Day Marcellus Shale Documentary Project The Moose Exchange in Downtown Bloomsburg presents the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project through June 8th. All Day Head Start Recruitment The Columbia Sullivan Head Start program is now recruiting children for the 2013-2014 program year. Head start is federal funded pre-school program that emphasizes education, health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, social services and parent involvement. Any child who is 3 or 4 years old before September 1st at meets the income guidelines can be considered for the program. If you’re interested in applying for the program, call 784-1076.
All Day Car Show Camp Cranium will host a car show on Saturday June 1st at TPC Power Center in Bloomsburg. The car show proceeds will help offset the cost of camp for parents of kids attending. Camp Cranium is a special camp for kids with brain injuries.
