9:00AM 4:00PM Yard and Bake Sale Katys Church is hosting a yard and bake sale Friday May 31st and Saturday June 1st from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A portion of the proceeds benefit the continued restoration and renovation of the historical church. Kathy’s Church is located on Phillips Road in Bloomsburg…which is west off Route 254 outside Millville.
1:00PM 6:00PM Blood Drive Berwick Bible Church will host a blood drive on Friday from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. The church is located at 1426 Spring Garden Ave in Berwick. Lunch will be provided.
All Day Southern Relay For Life The American Cancer Society will host the annual Southern Columbia Area Relay For Life Friday May 31st through Saturday June 1st at Southern Columbia High School. Events start at 3:00 PM on Friday and continue straight through Saturday at 3:00 PM. Stop by to support this year’s teams and join the fight against cancer.
All Day Volunteers Needed The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for their “Road to Recovery” program. You can volunteer your spare time to provide free transportation taking cancer patients to and from their treatments. Volunteer Drivers are needed in Columbia and Montour Counties. All Day Flag Collection The Orangeville Public Library is collecting worn US Flags during the month of May. A drop-off box is located inside the library. A proper retirement ceremony will be preformed by the boy scouts of Troop 9 in June. The library is located at 301 Mill Street in Orangeville.
All Day Marcellus Shale Documentary Project The Moose Exchange in Downtown Bloomsburg presents the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project through June 8th. All Day Head Start Recruitment The Columbia Sullivan Head Start program is now recruiting children for the 2013-2014 program year. Head start is federal funded pre-school program that emphasizes education, health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, social services and parent involvement. Any child who is 3 or 4 years old before September 1st at meets the income guidelines can be considered for the program. If you’re interested in applying for the program, call 784-1076.
6:00PM 8:00PM Artist Reception Artspace Gallery presents an exhibition by Oren B. Helbok May 23rd through July 7th. The exhibition features black and white and color photographs…mostly of trains. An artist reception will be held Friday May 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The gallery is located on Center Street in Bloomsburg.
6:00PM 8:00PM Power of Parents Workshop Sweet Valley Church of Christ will host a “Power of Parents” workshop on Friday May 31st at 6:00 PM. The program is facilitated through Mothers Against Drunk Driving and is designed to give parents of teens the tools to have conversations about alcohol. There’s a limit of 30 people you can call the church to register at 477-2320.
