7:00AM 3:00PM Mud Bog The Boondockers 4x4 Club of Bloomsburg will host a mud bog on Saturday May 11th at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds Parking Lot. Registration will be held from 7:00 to 10:00 AM with racing starting at 11:00 AM. Cost is $20.00 per run and a $5.00 donation per vehicle for the event. There will be food available.
10:00AM 5:00PM Kidsburg At Berwick Festival The Kidsburg 2.0 committee invites you to stop by their booth Saturday May 11th the Berwick Sidewalk Festival from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. They’ll be near the fountain with playground-inspired food, crafts, games, stories and surprises. They invite you to drop off your coins to donate, and help them make crafts to sell! All of Kidsburg 2.0 efforts go toward rebuilding the playground in Bloomsburg Town Park.
10:00AM 4:00PM Mothers Day Flower Sale The Defender Fire Company #3 is hosting a Mother’s Day Flower Sale Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. They will also sell flowers Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The fire company is located at 6th and Pine Streets in Berwick.
10:00AM 12:00PM Saturday Trains The Free Saturday Trains Program will be open at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Danville from 10:00 AM to Noon each Saturday. They feature their “talking train” and a new model merry-go-round. Adults and children can play with the trains. Over 1,000 icicle lights decorate the display.
10:00AM 4:00PM Mother's, Aunt's, and Grandma's Day The Children’s Museum will host Mother’s, Aunt’s, and Grandma’s Day on Saturday May 11th from 10 AM to 4 PM. There will be special make-and-take crafts and story time at noon. Adult ladies that accompany children will gain free admission. Admission is $6 and free for children ages 2 and under. The Children’s Museum is located on West 7th Street in Bloomsburg.
11:00AM 5:00PM Celebrate Berwick Celebrate Berwick on Saturday May 11th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Celebrate Berwick is a festival taking place on Front Street with all sorts of activities and promotions. Activities include a wine festival, car cruise-in, mural project, scavenger hunt, video time capsule, and sidewalk sales. Trolley Rides will be provided throughout the day for free.
11:00AM 5:00PM Loose Ties Model Railroad Display The Loose Ties Model Railroad Society will open their huge display of operating trains at the Columbia Mall Saturday May 11th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday May 12th from Noon to 4:00 PM. The display features more than 60 trains and 10,000 feet of track. There is no charge to see the display.
4:00PM 6:30PM Ham Dinner Fairmount Springs UMC will host a family style ham dinner on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Menu includes ham, corn, pickled cabbage, potatoes, and more. The church is located near the intersection of Old County Road and Old Tioga Turnpike in Benton.
4:00PM 7:00PM Spaghetti Dinner The Gate House Shelter will sponsor a spaghetti dinner on Saturday May 11th at First Presbyterian Church in Bloomsburg from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Cost is $8.00 for you, $5.00 for students with ID, and free for children 5 years and under. All proceeds benefit the Gate House of Columbia and Montour Counties.
4:30PM 6:30PM Open Pit BBQ The Huntington Valley Volunteer Fire Company is hosting an open pit BBQ on Saturday May 11th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Cost is $8.50, and they’ll be serving up chicken, baked potato, applesauce, and homemade dinner rolls. The Fire Company is located on Route 239 in Huntington Mills…which is half way between Shickshinny and Benton.
All Day Walk For Life Your Loving Choices is hosting the Walk For Life 2013 on Saturday May 11th at Bloomsburg Town Park. Registration is at 9:00 AM and the walk starts at 9:30 AM. All Day Kidsburg 5K The Kidsburg 2.0 committee is hosting a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday May 11th at Bloomsburg Town Park. Entry fee is $20, or $60 for a four-person team. Day of registration will be held at the park from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and the race will start at 9:00 AM. Prizes for top overall male and female along with age group…and a lucky bib number raffle. All proceeds support the rebuilding of the playground in Bloomsburg Town Park. To register online go to kidsburg.org.
All Day Volunteers Needed The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for their “Road to Recovery” program. You can volunteer your spare time to provide free transportation taking cancer patients to and from their treatments. Volunteer Drivers are needed in Columbia and Montour Counties. All Day Flag Collection The Orangeville Public Library is collecting worn US Flags during the month of May. A drop-off box is located inside the library. A proper retirement ceremony will be preformed by the boy scouts of Troop 9 in June. The library is located at 301 Mill Street in Orangeville.
All Day SMILE Meeting SMILE is happy to announce that they will now host meetings in Bloomsburg and Berwick. SMILE is a group for single mothers to get together for support and friendship. Meetings in Bloomsburg will be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at Bloomsburg Christian Church. In Berwick at the New Covenant Christian Center on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. All Day Columbia Mall Community Day The Columbia Mall is hosting a free Community day on Saturday May 11th. Local Nonprofit organizations will we present to provide information on their organizations.
All Day Confluence Unveiling The original art piece in the Haas Center lobby of Bloomsburg University will be unveiled to the public on Saturday May 11th in collaboration with the Celebrity Artist Series presentation of “The Temptation of the Muse”. The piece is entitled Confluence, and is a 7 foot by 60 foot installation piece that celebrates the collaboration of the university and the greater Bloomsburg community. The piece is collaboration by 19 Susquehanna River Artists. The project was initiated by Bloomsburg University’s Celebrity Artist Series and the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau.
